Fall is here and it’s time for a quick style update. If you are anything like me and have recently (or not so recently had children, jeans just don’t quite fit like they used to. You need a high enough waist to slim your mid-section, but you’re still looking for a nice, flattering cut, not the 80’s Jordache look (no judgement, we ALL wore them).
My absolute FAVORITE brand of jeans since having kids is NYDJ. The rise is high enough to fully smooth any post-kids “pooch” and love handles. They don’t slip down (we’re past showing crack, right?) and the denim looks and feels like a premium denim. There are 3 styles that fill up my closet: Alina Legging, Barbara Bootcut & Marilyn Straight. These jeans run big (intentionally), so order a size down. In the boyfriend style, I am actually two sizes smaller than typical. On average, these jeans retail for between $100 & $150, but it is typically easy to find sales, especially as seasons clearance. For example, Nordstrom currently has several styles in their sale section, NYDJ itself often has great offers and Amazon also carries the brand (keep an eye in our group for when Amazon has them in the Deal of the Day).
If you are still sporting Maternity Jeans (really, it’s ok, plenty of us are), Jag are the jeans for you! With several pull on styles, these jeans are slimming and super comfortable! The Peri straight leg cut is my favorite Jag style. These run more TTS – so no need to order up or down. Retail on average is a bit less than NYDJ, running between $70 & $85. On sale, they can often be found for $40-$50! Nordstrom has several pairs in the sale section & Amazon also carries Jag (you can often find great deals in random size/color combos).
Finally we have the Wit & Wisdom Ab-Solution Line. As the name suggests, these jeans are designed with a slimming tummy panel. For me, I need to go up a size (could be my hips). They are sold at Nordstrom and also the most affordable line of “Mom Jeans”, just slightly less than Jag, but with plenty of sales at Nordstrom, you can often snag a pair for $40ish.
